I’m 71 years of age and I need a new set of dentures.
My upper is a regular denture but with my bottom being an implant denture as I have no bottom gum that a regular denture would be work for me.

I am over 65, and have full coverage up to $5,000, but all the dentist in Lloydminster charge extra, I would like to know if you would charge extra for 2 dentures (top & bottom) with 24 teeth extractions.
    Thanks

  • Posted on 01-06-2023 by YYC Dentures

Hi Emilie, thank you for your comment! The Alberta Seniors program covers a maximum amount of $1,129.48 per plate for complete dentures. Even though you have $5000 allocated every 5 years, they will only cover that maximum amount per denture. A lot of clinics charge above that amount. At YYC Denture Clinic if you are 100% covered, you will not have to pay anything out of pocket. We follow the Seniors fee guide. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks and have a great day!

If I am covered 100% of the 5,000 dollars allowed under Alberta Dental for seniors, why are my basic dentures, top and bottom, not covered fully and I am required to pay over 1,000 to my denturist. This tells me my dentures are only partly covered, even though I have not used all of my 5,000 allotted. I also have used none of my dental allowance for the last ten years after becomming a senior. Whom can i call to appeal this?

  • Posted on 24-05-2023 by YYC Dentures

Hi Brian & Sue, thanks for your post comment! Based on the information you provided you should be 100% covered through the Seniors Program. We follow their fee guide, so once you are enrolled, we can check your coverage, and if you’re 100% covered, you will not have to pay anything out of pocket for your dentures at our office. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at smile@yycdentureclinic.ca or by phone 403-475-3330. Have a great day!

My wife & I are both 73 years of age and our worn out dentures require replacing. Between the two of us we make roughly 50K a year in pensions. Might we qualify for assistance?

    Hi David & Regina,
Thank you for your post comment! We would be happy to check and see if you qualify for the seniors coverage. Kindly send us an email to smile@yycdentureclinic.ca or give us a call at 403-475-3330.

Do we qualify for the seniors dental coverage

  • Posted on 17-04-2023 by YYC Dentures

    Hi Christina,
Thank you for your comment! Unfortunately we do not have a location in Edmonton. You can try and call around and see which clinic follows the Alberta Seniors Program Fee Guide. There should be a couple that do, and if you have 100% coverage through that program, you will not have to pay anything out of pocket. Hope this helps!

A couple years ago I went to a dentist ( during covid) and he kept saying I can’t see as he worked on me. I then got upper and lower partial plates. Within a year another dentist recommended having an eye tooth pulled as it should have been a t least a year ago. Now pulled my upper plate is barely usable, and I do only in public.

I went to get dentures and even though my Alberta seniors benefit says 100% coverage they told me I would have to pay 1100.00 .and I don’t know why. I thought it was 100% coverage I can’t afford 1100.00. the whole bill would have been around 3200.00…why do I have to pay 1100.00 ?
