We’re answering some of your most frequently asked questions about eating with dentures!

  1. Can you eat normally with dentures? It takes time getting used to eating with dentures, but yes, you can eat normally with them. We recommend that you start with soft foods first, such as eggs, pudding, cooked vegetables, or chopped meat. Once you feel more confident, you can try chewer foods such as celery or even steak!
  2. How long after getting dentures can you eat solid foods? This all depends on you. As soon as you feel comfortable with your dentures, start adding solid foods to your diet.
  3. Can you eat steak with dentures? We have lots of patients who love their steak, and yes, they are eating steak with dentures. Again, it’s all about your comfort level and your mindset.
  4. What not to eat with false teeth? We don’t recommend eating sticky candy or chewing gum with dentures. Although many still do, these can adhere to your teeth and dislodge your dentures.
