It takes time to get adjusted to new dentures, especially if you have never worn dentures before. For the first few days, we recommend sticking with soft foods such as:

– Applesauce
– Soups
– Pudding
– Oatmeal
– Mashed Potatoes
– Yogurt

Once your mouth gets used to your dentures, you can introduce solid foods. You want to start slowly with bite-sized pieces, and food that doesn’t require excessive chewing. This can include things like:

– Pasta
– Soft Bread
– Cooked Green and vegetables
– Soft Fish
– Rice

With time you will be able to eat the food you love and enjoy, like that green juicy apple! It is important that you chew on both sides of you mouth, as it will keep your dentures in place and the chewing pressure is distributed evenly. You also want to avoid chewing with your front teeth. Instead, bite food with your side teeth and use your tongue to bring food to the back of your mouth. You also want to ensure that you chew your food thoroughly before swallowing.

If you treat your dentures right, you’ll be eating well for many years to come! We hope these tips have been helpful. For more information, please visit our website at www.yycdentureclinic.ca
